Steel materials are sourced from qualified large steel mills and inspected by batch. Kaiyue drill pipe bodies can use R780 steel with upset and thickened ends to increase the friction-welding contact area. Friction-welded areas are tempered to reduce internal stress, while 42CrMo couplings are heat treated and deeply nitrided; the core hardness is about HRC 34 and the nitrided surface can reach about HRC 57.
